Dave,
I thought it was the other way around...the 2001 had the adjustable palm keys, and the Medusa didn't? Did I dream that?

No Morry, thats what it is supposed to be. However, these 2001's were made right at the transition to the Medusa so thats probably why they do not have the Palm key risers.
As for the Medusa Altos, these are freshly made stock so maybe B&S has decided to bring them back!
Your guess is as good as mine.
So far we have only played the goldbrass alto with silver keys and man it is a rich sounding horn.

Unless they are having trouble getting the parts, I can't see a downside to having the adjustable palm risers. I know that I love the ones on my Keilwerths.

The pictures of the new altos are now up on the server.
Could anybody tell me if the new Medusa tenors are the direct continuation of the Dave Guardalas (DG500 BN, ...).
Thanks.

Hi Dave,
Is this the same sandblasted alto that I had??? I'm away from my sax now so I can't recall if my alto have the adjustable palm risers, and the case is different too.
Thanks,
Kenny.

From what I understand, design-wise the DG and the 2001 were almost identical...the Medusa tenor is virtually identical to the 2001 in most ways. I have heard that the metal composition may have been altered, but I cannot confirm that.
The 2006 Medusa alto, however, is a completely different, re-designed horn from the 2001.
