When I finally do get a new bari....one year?.....two years??? I'm thinking of getting either a Keilwerth SX90 or a Cannonball Big Bell. I own a CB tenor and love the sound. However, I know how good Keilwerth is as far as its reputation. Here is the problem. I have not actually played either of these baris, and it is very tough to find dealers with one of these in stock much less a side by side comparison. I was hoping for an opinion from someone who might have played both, a comparison maybe.
I love the sound on my Martin Magna low A, BUT....it is a beast and the modern horns play so much easier. I get tired after a four hour gig two or three nights in a row. I've played a YBS 62 but just don't feel that it has enough meat on the bottom end. I play R&B and a little Tower of Power type stuff (I know Doc plays the 62 and he has plenty of meat, but he could make anyhorn sound good) so I need a fat low end. I'm not willing to sacrifice the sound for easy playing, but if I can have both, then that would be the ultimate.
I'm posting this in the Keilwerth and Cannonball forums to get a balanced opinion.
