How do antigua winds tenor saxes compare with a selmer or a yanagisawa pro line horn? Does anyone have any experience with them? I am talking about the 550 or the 535. i have not seen any previous threads on this topic. can anyone give me some information?

Check out the post 'Antigua vs Selmer' by saxybeast on the forum: 'Sax vs Sax, mpc vs mpc.. etc' dated Apr 26. It might be worth a try re-posting your question on the Sax v Sax forum (see 'General Discussion' category), to get more responses.

I've tried a friend's Antigua 550BC tenor vs. the Selmer Series III tenor. The Antigua compared pretty favorably, in my opinion. I remember III being a little brighter, but the sound and intonation of both horns was excellent. Ergonomics are slightly different on the 550 than the III, but not in a bad way at all. I am a strong follower of the new Antiguas (I own a 520BC alto and plan on getting a 586BC soprano when I get the $). These are excellent horns that are definitely worth looking in to. Go to your local music store and try some out if at all possible. You won't be dissappointed. Hope all of this helps.
P.S.-Try looking under Tenor Sax, and look for a thread called "Antigua Winds Professional 550 Tenor Sax" or something like that. That may give a better picture as well.
