For several months now, I've been working with a guitar player friend of mine trying to put together a new band. We live in the country about 100 miles west of Nashville so good musicians aren't easy to locate. We finally found a drummer and bass player and had our first rehearsal yesterday and, let me tell you, we clicked right away. It's a 4 piece group with me on lead vocals, tenor and alto sax and back up guitar. The other guitar player, the drummer and the bass player are all excellent musicians. It's too early to be sure but I think this might be the first band I've ever been in where the personalities don't clash and everybody has a good feel for what everybody else is doing. If the first rehearsal is any indication we're going to kick booty. The first song we learned was "Can't Keep a Good Man Down" by Tommy Castro. We listened to it one time on a CD and after a couple of tries we had it down pretty good. The 3rd time through me and the guitar player stretched out the solo break and really let it rip. Man, I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. 2nd rehearsal is tomorrow night. Can't wait until we get our song list down and can start playing out.

100 miles west of Nashville you should be able to book stuff in Jackson pretty easily. They are always getting Memphis bands so you should be able to slide right in.

That's what we're hoping phathorn. We can be in Jackson in an hour. Also, there are some clubs just over the river in Decatur Co. that have live bands every weekend. Summer time's just around the corner. Considering our proximity to Kentucky Lake, we should be able to book some parties.

Mulligan's in Jackson often books bands as does Barley's and the country club books for various events. We're trying to stay out of Jackson as our band is too large to be paid what we need for the hour trip.
