yesterday a saw a very nice Nikkel plated rev D tenor.
The plating seemed to be original and it's serial was 81xx.

The only examples i have seen in nikkel are my onw Bari and a soprano.

Have any of you SML players seen more horns in nikkel ?

You see them in lacquer, silver (add 15%), gold (add 20%) and I’ve seen one nickel plated alto.
That's what SAXGORMET Steve Goodson says about it.

I have heard rumors, that there are quite some SML's around that have been cheaply re-plated with nickel in Holland. So watch out.

I have seen some replated SML's but in my opinion this tenor is original.
The SML bari i own is also plated in nikkel and this is original.

The replated horns i have seen look quite different.

I have spoken to several poeple from marching bands and they told me they bought the nikkel plated horns because they could better resist the wether, looked nice and shiny and were cheaper than silver plated instruments.
