Hi!
I keep on reading on stuff about tone holes being rolled or not?
Can someone please tell me what this means!
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thanks

Dr. Rick does a pretty nice job, as well. Check out http://www.drrick.com/stencil.html

Quick Rundown, for pro horns:
- Rolled tone holes are found on vintage Conns (pre 1948), such as the "Naked Lady" (6/10M) and "Chu Berry" models (New Wonder). They're also commonly found on older Keilwerths and SML's.

- Straight tone holes are found on most horns, possibly most famously on Selmer horns, but they're also found on most Bueschers, Yamahas, etc.

- Bevelled tone holes are the most uncommon and are found on most Martins, some early Bueschers and on early (pre-1935) Couesnons.

- Soldered rolled tone rings are found on the tone holes of the Keilwerth SX90R series horns. These are the only horns I know of that use these.

Now, there are other gradations of these, such as "soldered on, straight toneholes" (Buffet Dynaction), and Cybersax goes into some detail on this.

Please do note that Buescher, Conn, SML, etc. didn't always use one style of tone hole.
