I have a step daughter that is going to move to Sax from Clarinet. While the Alto will be her primary instrument she also wants to play the Soprano and that is my question.

I have a King Soprano Low Pitch (HN White Co) Serial number 666XX. Does anyone have any information on this sax. It was a gift to me from my JR High Music teacher when he retired in 1958 when I went to high school..

I can't believe there is so much information on the net... a little concerned for her to take the Selmer Mark VI Alto to school however it served me well but that was before the value went up...

Thanks in Advance

Dunk,

I had a 90,XXX King soprano for several months a couple of years ago. It had a very sweet tone but was difficult to play in tune. And the keywork wasn't nearly as comfortable as modern horns. The G# was especially difficult.

I think a modern horn would be a better choice for your daughter. I got a new Antigua this spring and it is much easer to manage than the King.

Good luck!
