zgatt, I can only describe the Alpine "Dehon" alto that I bought from KSmusic through ebay a few years back. It has a durable epoxy style finish, solid, modern keywork, good intonation, solid construction...pretty good so far....but alas, poor tone. I would characterize it as an ideal young student sax, especially at the prices I have seen. No country of origin, and I have never been able to find any other info through the internet. I would not place any significance to the "Alpine" name.

I had the chance to play a Alpine while my selmer was in the shop. It was quite comprable to The Bundy II, but I would have too say the Bundy was a bit better. If the price is under the price of a bundy, Id recommend that, but if you can afford A bundy Id reccomend it as one of the best student saxes out, Great response and tone.
As for the Alpine, It has a very bright tone to it, but it felt a little cheesy to me.I dont know, but overall it is a pretty decent student horn.

Alpine saxophones are made in Taiwan. I believe they're made in a town in central Taiwan that is know in the area for making lot of saxophones, some I'm told that are very good.
I have an Alpine and use it a lot for practicing. That way I can let my Selmer Modele 26 rest when I'm not performing. The Alpine is definitely a student sax.
I'd recommend it for someone looking for that.
