Jazz Alley is a great venue in the Seattle area. It is also a restaurant. A little expensive (at least for me), but very nice...and small enough that no matter where you sit, you'll have a good view of the stage and be pretty close. My wife and I recently went there for dinner and to hear Tuck & Patty. It was great.

There are many other places in the Seattle area, but I haven't been to them.

Benaroya Hall is also a great venue. It's usually home to the symphony, but on April 5 Kirk Whalum will be here with the BWB band.

Then there are the many small venues like Old Timers Cafe, Tula's, the Sky Church, About the Music, Corner Pocket, and too many more to mention. Then there is the eastside. Jazz paradise. /jim

There's a new venue in Georgetown of all places, at the south end of the old Rainier Cold Storage on Airport Way. I have not gone in side the place yet, and can't even rember the name, but it looks like a pretty cool venue.

For more blues oriented listening, The Swiss, in Tacoma is a nice place.

Might that be the Georgetown Industrial Coffehouse? I saw Dijaldi's band play there in the summer of 2001 when I was in the United States for an extended visit.

No, the Industrial Coffee House is pretty close though; about 1 mile north on Airport Way S.

Georgetown is one of Seattle's oldest neighborhoods. It was actually a seperate city until about 1900 when it was incorporated. It is situated just north of Boeing Field and so has always had it's share of commercial/industrial prescence but was mostly residential. Massive rezoning to mostly industrial use in the 60's led to the inevitable decline and decay of the residential areas.

Growing up on Beacon Hill I watched this first hand, so I'm really blown away to see things like jazz clubs and coffee houses being established in beat up old Georgetown. As you might expect, the locals are fairly young and bohemian. For any of you local cats who want to check out a different side of Seattle this is the place.

Well I guess after all that rambling I should find out the name of the jazz club!
