Why stop? Aren't YOU looking for an awesome soprano for less than the big guys? I sure was... UNTIL I FOUND MY ANTIGUA 590LQ!! Mwahahaha!
Just as I feared, to some people, all this talk about Antigua saxophones is getting a little old.

Again, the threads are clearly labeled. If fourm members weren't interested, these threads wouldn't be here. I'M tired of reading about Mark VIs, so I just don't read those threads. No problem.[/b]

We do have a herd instinct on this forum. I believe Antigua sopranos are good saxes, especially for the money. I believe Saxrax are good stands. The Goodson saxes probably had potential. But it seems that there are more testimonials posted than saxophones sold. It means more from someone who has played the sax for at least several months, if not years.
I wonder what the next flavor of the month will be?
We need more threads about Florida Links. (Just kidding.)

Which is going to go away quicker with this post - how? :D
The Antigua posts haven't gotten out of hand and there's been legitimate feedback from a variety of posters both pro and con.

So, these new Anitguas are really just oxymorons?
Hmmnn....hard for this old brain to process "oxymoron" concerning Antiqua saxaophones, which might be more acurately associated somehow with the island in the West Indies. Perhaps the sound of these reasonably priced, yet quality instruments is as refreshing to the ears as the sound of surf on a sandy beach just as the light begins to fade.

How do you hear the sun fade? just a question. But I do get your meaning. I mean, come on, wouldn't we all love to be able to get a really nice saxophone really cheap? Antigua just seems to be the best possibility right now. I'm sure that if Antigua saxes sales start to horribly overpower the rest of the sax makers, Brands like Selmer will clue in and say "Wait a second! this high-priced thing isn't working out." but of course, there's more than two sides to that too.

Seems to me that Antigua has been very astute. They refined their product until it can compete with the name brands. They introduced it at a bargain price and started to build a reputation. Now they can leverage their quality and image and raise their prices. See Dave Kessler's coments in the Antigua pricing thread...that's got to be a wholesale price increase well over 10%.
There are no free lunches. Santa Claus is a myth. All we can reasonably expect is a quality product at a fair price.

MJ,
"New" Antiguas. Antigua = Old; antique. New antiques. Oxymoron.
I thought that the talk of Antiguas getting "old" was your joke. If not, what WAS your joke?

Ladies and gentlemen, I present Santa Tigua, and his magical soprano saxophone!
If we killed the Antigua threads, then we'd just have to spend more time reading about the effects of saxophone finish on tone production... with that in mind, I say unto you: "Long live Antigua! And the horse it rode in on!"
Yes, it's a slow day here at Casa Stacey.

And you would think Electrical Engineers would have better things to do.
I think this thread should be locked and the key thrown away.

Hey... don't worry.. like all new and wonderful products, it get a bit of hype, and then it dies back down.
Not saying that the Antigua is going to go down the drain, I'm not saying that at all... just telling you to wait until the next one comes along so we can go nuts about that too.
Even if we do have to wait another couple months...

You'd be surprised at how little some of us do. Or maybe you wouldn't.
