2001 models? Or do the Medusas just have fancy engraving?

For the tenors, the engraving is said to be the only real difference. However, the Medusa alto is a complete redesign from the 2001 models. This according to the B&S rep in Chicago.

This is essentially correct. they did change the keywork a little on the horns as well. For instance, they got rid of the adjustable left hand plam key risers and they added a C# to B natural floating connector like what Yanagisawa uses.
Also, the overall key layout has been improved on the Medusa.
But for the most part, the tenor is the same (which was a great horn to begin with) but the Alto is a completely different horn then the 2001 and they did a Fantastic job re-designing it.
I do have a few of the 2001 model tenors on the way for a couplet hundred less then the Medusa equivalent.
