Saxpics, Could you give me an approx. idea of value of sax described below and any other info regarding its capabilities etc. as against say a top Mark6 231000 which I own.
It has floral engraving, with H.Couf Superba 1 Elkhart Ind. USA on the bell. On the side is written Made in Germany exclusively for W.T. Armstrong Co. byJulius Kielworth Musical Instrument Factory
S.N. is 792XX. It has H.Couf and the same serial number on the neck. It has rolled tone holes and lacquer is about 90%. Some springs a bit rusted and one or two pads may need replacing. But overall in good condition.
I would really appreciate your approx. assesment as to value and your opinion of these saxes as quickly as possible as I have a chance of acquiring it but no idea what its value is.
Thank you in anticipation.

Jazzbeau75, value is going to be completely dependent upon condition. Sight unseen, I can't really tell you. You also don't list the pitch, so I can't even give you a max value.

The question of Superba I vs. Mark VI is essentially one of preference: they're both pro models (also check your s/n and keywork: 231xxx = early Mark VII, for alto and tenor. Make sure it's engraved "Mark VI").

Saxpics, thank you for your reply re this. I didn't realise you had answered so have put another similar message on Misc. Sax Discussion. The Superba 1 is a low pitch. And thanks for advice on the Mark6. It is definitely marked Mark 6. Jazzbeau75

Actually, I meant alto, tenor, etc.

Someone replied in your other thread. I'll repeat it here and close the other thread:

"Superba I tenors (in good condition) sell for appx. $1500 to $1800 on eBay."
