Can anybody tell me anything about this sax? Serial #12,5xx, split bell keys, wire guards, pearl octave button, and nail-file G# on spatula.

A link to EBay pictures and description follows:

I'm debating whether to just sink a few repair bucks into getting this sax into good playing condition or plow a fistful of bucks into full overhaul. She plays now, but lefthand bell keywork is inoperative.
Thanks for sharing your insights on this model of saxophone. My guesstimate is this sax originated just before the SA model. I appreciate your help.

Yikes, I mentioned this Evette-Schaeffer sax to a master clarinet repairman this afternoon and triggered his painful flashbacks about E-S
saxes from Taiwan and woeful intonation. This particular sax was made in France.
Is there anyone in the SaX Web with information on this sax?

The pictured sax does not have split bell keys. I can't find any reference to a sax like the pictured one. It's closest to the Buffet Powell, but only in that it has left side bell keys. Otherwise, I'd say it's closer to a Buffet Apogee, but Apogees do have split bell keys.

This quest for information on my old Evette-Shaeffer gets more interesting all the time. Here is the link for an old Pierret tenor on EBay with the same left-hand pinky keys as my alto:

Could it be that Pierret made my Evette-Shaeffer?
