I am craving company in my journey with the tenor sax! I would go out to the local community "marching" bands, but I am not real excited about playing marches and such.

I am an early intermediate player, can read, can follow some progessions through some major/minor/dominants, and am practicing scales, standards, etc. I played 20+ years ago, primarily clarinet, and dabbled in the tenor sax. I have been practicing most every day for the last 6 months.

Not quite ready for jam sessions, at least I don't think I am.
Anybody out there in Woodbury area? I would travel 30 minutes in any direction!
Thanks!

Since there have been no replies to this post, I guess I was too forward in asking for people to jam with so early in my tenor career. Sorry for the breach in etiquette. It would just be nice to hear from anyone in the area, share some experiences. Sorry if I scared any of you away, or are there just 19 sax players in the Delaware Valley?

Larry,

check out www.jerseymusic.com there is a classified ad section and a message board, they occasionally have posts looking for sax players, or you could post there as well.

Same thing at www.harmony-central.com you can browse the musician ads there by zipcode and a mileage radius.

I found some good guys that way, the band took a turn I didn't like so I left, but now some of the original members and I will be starting something new. Turned out the drummer lives only a couple blocks from me, but it took the internet to find him...

Hey Bill
Thanks for the links! They look like a great resource to find other people to jam with. I appreciate your taking the time to respond! Thanks again.
