I play psychodelic jazz electronica, I play thru a Sennheiser E604 series condenser mic.

I have-
TS9 Tube screamer
Line6 DL4 stompbox (delay/loop)
Electro-Harmonix "TheWorm"
and a volume pedal

I have been playing through my friends Mesa Boogie guitar amp which is not an option anymore. So I now have been going straight thru a mixer into the PA. But it is too muddy,or I cant get a good mix and I cant use my effects. (this is for a live setting)

Opt 1-I have a JBL TR105 15' Cab that I use as a monitor, I think this would work with a preamped mini-mixer of some sort?
Or maybe a bass head for power?
I like the sound of the JBL alot, and I want to utilize it.

Opt 2- Buy a Keyboard Amp (like a 100watt Roland?)

Opt 3- suggestions...

I have been having a hard time finding a good sound output for my for my horn, and an even harder time finding someone to give me advise, especially with the type of music I like to play with my horn.

thanks in advance

1. Get a small powered mixer with an effects loop and line out.
2. Plug the sax mic into the mixer.
3. Set up an effects loop output out to your effects, bring the modified signal back into a second channel. That way you can control efx and sax levels separately.
4. Send the mixer's powered output (a blend of straight sax + efx) to the JBL, and send the line out to the PA.

One more thing, lose the volume pedal. You're probably overdriving the PA and causing unwanted distortion.

thanks Frank D I really appreciate the advise.

To harrass you a little more here....is there a small preamped mixer you could recommend that wont cost me lots O' cash? The guys I frequently jam with have a 24 track Mackie but I cant use that all the time. Plus that much mixer is definetly overkill for what I need.

as far as the volume pedal goes, with the set up I was using it worked out great, no distortion at all. I would imagine with my own mixer and suggested set up I would have no need for a volume pedal anyway because I can control it directly through the mixer?!?

I have a powered (at least 100 W to drive the JBL - preamps are a whole different can of worms, a mixer with just a preamp is not what you want) 8 track Mackie that I like, still probably overkill for your needs. I believe Mackie, Yamaha, Peavey and Carvin all make 4-6 channel powered mixers. Look around at local stores and see what they have, and try shopping over the internet, too. Might not be a bad idea to have a few extra channels, in case your needs change in the future you'll have some flexibility.

Yes, the volume pedal would be redundant in the setup I described.
