Could anyone tell me a way to tell if a neck is original to an SML alto I'm looking at? The neck I'm looking at has no serial number or obvious markings. It does however fit the sock really nicely. Help!!!

I don't know if this will help, but my tenor #14xxx
has SML on the neck. I'm not sure if all models had this or not. If you post the serial # someone may have the info for you for the that particular model...hope this helps

I saw a 12000 alto, it had both the Serial# AND SML logo stamped on it.

Morgan knows for sure, but, my guess is that all of their Necks had the SML Logo on it.

My 14,xxx alto has the SML logo on a little plate on the front of the neck, just above the tenon. No serial number.

Dr. I's 6,6xx tenor has the original neck, obviously of SML origin, but no serial number, no logo.

The SML's had a distintive octave key and brace shape.

My 12xxx rolled tone hole SML Alto has "SML" on a plate, as Paul C.'s does. It also has a pickup attachment on the right side just forward of the octave key guide.
