I've got a 140XX Rev D silverplate alto sitting around gathering dust. It's got a fairly fresh World Wide Sax overhaul on it, and is in very good shape. A cashiers check for $2200 US takes it home.

I'll trade you a poster of Cannonball Adderley for it.

Heh Dr. I!

Thanks for dropping off the Rev. D

Took it out today and gave it a quick wail - what a screamer this one is. My lads said it was 'driven'!

Will have to take care that I only play for myself during socialable hours - and away from anything breakable.

A Custom Faced Runyon I got from Paul C. certainly adds some rocket fuel when it harnesses the SML and punches sound!

Just wondering if I really should be able to take this SML sonically from velvet whisper through each of the vintage tones right to Jet-Engined Rock&Roll Knife Edge while bending a fifth up or down at will? Seems unfair to the rest of the world!

I usually name my saxes after a while - this one is going to be hard - suggestions?

Again glad to add it to my horns!

regards,

StevenW

I knew it wouldn't disappoint. As for naming it, you're on your own. You might have to give up bass and bari, and take the lead alto's chair, you've certainly got the tool to do it with, an alto like the ones Santy imported under his own name from SML, and a mouthpiece he designed when all the great vintage horns, including this one, were new.

Herr Doktor - have you had a peek?

Glad to see you sold the alto -- and congratulations, StevenW. I thought that one was a real cherry.

Not an advertisement -- sorry that it looks like one, on an inapropos thread -- haven't made/FTP'd a page for the Rev, and likely won't (since it's not to be for sale). Pics of the g-plated alto I mentioned are accessible through links in the "Coming Soon" area.

heh heh...

(Glad to hear from you Paul - next time you're in town, let me know. We can leave our kids at Steve's and take the D out for a stroll!)

I'm sure Steve would be really thrilled! However, I don't think Paul would want his kids back afterward. Steve, you need to change your signature block to:

Hey, Steven W, when you get tired of it, I'll trade you a poster of Charles Mingus for it. Eric Dolphy can be seen in the background.

Dr. I, Steve - only $1000?

Obviously, you have not met my kids, or seen my walking clothes and headgear....

Heh Dr I., Tungp, Paul C. & Dijaldi,

Not trading for any poster - wondering if you Dija (and the rest) ever read Mingus's Book?

The dark spots on the horn are obiously the result of tungp's tongue hanging out.....

This Rev D is a screamer - almost seems unfair to mere mortals on regular alto's.... Now to rise up to play as well as the horn!

This one is going to be tough to name - most of my horns have names, the Bass was named by the Big Band as "Rupture" and "Kong". The SML Bari they named for me too "Stun Gun in Eb" and "Thunder"! Guess that Otto Link drives it well indeed!

I'm almost dreading what they will think up for this Rev D - with spoiler in I think I could unrivet aircraft in midflight!

Having fun.... Should see what I could have done to talk Dr I out of the little SML too........

The natives are restless and its time to uncase the Rev D and treat them sonically!

StevenW

I'll bet my Rene' Duval alto screams louder than that cheap SML the Doc unloaded on you.

Heh Dijaldi,

Would be great fun to try wouldn't it! Trouble here is even with the Runyon #8 refaced to long face jazz spec and hard reeds this little sax wasn't meant for ol' me to push my usual Bari and Bass wind through it. To date bar none with spoiler in it is the loudest I've played, yet will hunker right down to a wee twiddler of a faintest velvetly soft whisper while being almost sitar like in bendability..............

What about "Beneath the Underdog" - have you read it?

When you get it you might relate............

Anyway the milk bottle part was funny!

Off now to tattoo the walls with Rev D and the SML-Bari practice!!

Shutter you windows and hide your women & children!!

regards,

StevenW
