Does anyone know if the Selmer Silver necks for the SA80 II's will prpoerly fit he Serie III horns?
I've asked the WW&BW who sell them and several repairmen to no avail.

Thanks,

FWIW, I've used a copper Ser III neck in a Ser II (on tenor), so I would think it would work the other way around... dunno for sure, though.

It fits but that doesn't mean that it works. I tried the Selmer thinwall sterling neck on my III and the sound was great but the intonation was baaaaaaaaaaaaaadd.

TFM; The Selmer USA Sterling silver tenor neck is in the 'high arch' Mk VII/Super 80/Super 80 II profile. The Series III/Ref 36/Ref 54 neck is in the lower arch Mk VI profile. The tenon on all of them will fit all Selmer Paris tenors from 1967 up. There can be problems in many areas using a different-design neck than the sax was originally supplied with. I used a 'thin-wall' Sterling neck on a Super 80 II for a long time, but eventually went back to the original neck. By the way, Selmer Paris sells a Sterling silver neck for the Series III, but you have to get it from outside the U.S. Try any of the sellers offering new Paris horns on ebay.
