Anyone tried and aftermarket nickel-silver neck on their Keilwerth. I was very impressed with their copper neck I tried on a bari sax. I currently have an anniversary edition alto and use the stock neck... silver plated I think.

Has anyone been able to find a Keilwerth NS neck? I have yet to find a distributor that has either a Diamond or regular Keilwerth neck to try out.

Rick D.,how was the copper neck on bari, did it have much effect to the sound?

I think JK Diamond neck has more effect to the sound than NS neck.I havenīt seen NS necks sold separately anywhere.

Subtone Sam,

I purhcased the neck from the same fellow who sold me the sax. He had ordered the neck form Saxofonwinkle and by the time it arrived he sold the horn. I thought I made a big mistake buying a neck from the same company that made the horn.

WoW! what a difference. Not so much in the timber of the sound (which is what I thought would change). The original black nickel neck played well, however, the copper was SMOKIN'. Notes responded quicker, upper and lower registers. Upon inspection it is obvious that the copper neck has much thinner walls than the stock neck. I presume this is the reason for the differences in the way the necks play.

I tried a few really great necks on JKs, the ones handmade by Stephan. Copper, silver, gold-plate--all wonderful--works of art that sound great!

One of these days he'll build and I'll buy a silver one and a copper one for alto. Have to recover from recent purchases first.
