I recently blew one with a view to buying.
Apart from looking stunning, the sound is
amazing. At least it was with a metal quantam.
Very easy blowing horn with plenty of power.
The only thing I didn't like was the left hand pinky cluster, a bit of a stretch but I guess
you could get used to it.
I'd buy this one at a pinch if I can raise the $$$....

How does Stephan's pricing compare to the Dutch guys? I'm going there in a couple of weeks, so it would be good to know how they compare.

saxophones.co.uk has them for only around $2600 USD. I'd guess shipping to be around $200 something though...but still, that's a good price!
Does anyone know what the big difference is between the nickel silver and the nickel plate? Besides the NS saxophone being made of it of course. I would imagine that the NS would be darker than just nickel plate?
I wish they had them locally around here...I wanna try one real bad!

I tested few horns some weeks ago (Yamha Custom&62,Ref.36,Series III gold-matte and JK NS).The JK NS was absolutely the horn for me;big, solid, powerful sound and I liked the feel of the horn best.$2600 is a good price for this horn, btw.

Well, the advantage to buying from Stephan is that, since he lives so closed to the factory, he can choose from several different nickel silvers if you want. I doubt many places here in the U.S. can boast that. Stephan can also sometimes get horns on backorder (e.g. the nickel silver) faster than stores on this side of the pond.
Batman - I've played the alto SX90 nickel a fair amount actually, and I have an SX90R NS... I doubt the tonehole rings can account for the big difference I've found. Both were loud with a big sound, but to me the nickel silver sounds much richer, besides looking a helluva lot more distinguished. Almost like a baby tenor. The response also does seem a bit better. I'd go with the NS any day, it really is an incredible horn, and I don't think you'd be disappointed if you got it.

I just purchased a nickle silver tenor and DANG!!!!!
I think part of the difference is the lack of any lacquer to the body. The black gold models don't resonate nearly as much as the nickle silver ones.
I have been searching and this is the best horn out there! And I mean better than ALL of them.
I got mine from mathews music in Holland. They had to order it special but I got mine for about 2800 factory new.
Check this company out, they are great to work with.

My NS tenor arrived from Stephan Boesken yesterday. This horn plays and looks great! Very powerful&solid sound! Ans Stephans work with the pro-setup is absolutely beautiful! I did some sound samples of the horn and they will be on my webpage soon (www.kolumbus.fi/timo.haanmaki)

Subtone Sam---how does the horn compare to your Keilwerth-Ponzol? I assume you'll be using the guardala studio with this horn for the sound clips?

BATMAN,the NS is more powerful&resonant and louder than Ponzol.Ponzol has a darker sound and a bit more resistance.I´d say the NS is more "contemporary" sound.Yes,I used the Studio with LaVoz meds. and Olegature on the NS sound clips. Please, keep in mind that I had only played this horn about an hour before I made the clips;the sound is opening up more and more as I play it.

That's the Keilwerth tenor sound alright. Very reminiscent of Ernie Watts...
