I was offered a tenor with the following serial nr: 14201xxx
I do not know the model but tomorrow i'll see the horn.
Are there Conn's with serialnumbers this high????

Perhaps that's actually the patent number? You might try asking the seller for the "other" number. :)

Just saw the sax.
The guy needed glasses he misread the first two digits. M201.xxx it was a new wonder series II.
(i won't say its a CHU because that's not correct)
Considering the year of maufacture 1927 it looked quite good. the finish was still there for about 70%.The neck had some repairwork done but for the rest it seamed to be ok (except for some leaks in the lower region).
The mpc was a Selmer Goldentone 3.

No, don't use a well done mpc. It tastes burnt! :-)
As to mpcs, what kind of music are you looking to play on it? This tenor can do just about anything and is very mpc friendly.
Just avoid anything with too small a chamber and too big a baffle -- they'll make the tone & tuning unstable.
Re "Chu": If the people complaining about the use of his name had ever spent much time listening to his records, I might have some use for their opinion. As it is, it's a useful name for a horn that never had one.
