Why is high "G" 123+octive likely to produce a multiphonics tone? I have read on the internet that a lot of players have problems with this note.
Thanks;

A poorly set-up or out of adjustment octave mechanism most likely to be the culprit.

I have new octave vent pads [Conn 16M] and they are opening and closing properly. All the pads in the upper stack are new and appear to seal properly. There is a lot of talk on the internet about sounding this note. Could it be a problem for a novice? Seems like some mpc work better than others with respect to sounding this note.
Thanks

Most repairers down here spend a lot of time sorting this area out on the Conn tenors. There needs to be a little slop or free play in this area for it to work properly.

i think it may have to do with the octave keys: its the highest note with the lower octave vent open, while all notes above it have the higher octave vent open. maybe its just lingering between needing one over the other or something.
i dunno tho
