Just picked up a 10M C.'51. This horn has a G# trill key in between RH 1&2 but operates the same as the left pinky. I expected it to trill when the left pinky was pressed down. This key is in the way of the RH 2 regular key. Is something amiss?
BTW a 16M neck does play fine on this 10M...

Nothing wrong, that's the way it works.
If it's set kind of high you may feel it when playing. You can gently bend it down, or even remove it altogether (removing it will not affect anything else). If you remove it, save it.

Bill, the Chus trill in the manner that you expected. I had a 10M first, and when I bought the Chu, the G# trill kind of threw me for a loop.

After examination looks like Conn changed their mind on how the G# trill should work from earlier models. I put some sponge under the key arm on the actuation side to keep it down. Seems like there should be a spring to keep it down but I can't see where it would be mounted. Interesting how horns change over time.

I played a buddy's 6m against my pre-chu alto, and I found the older style trill to be superior. Anybody else have an opinion? Wonder why they changed it....
