So anyone ever done a one-on-one research on this one? I might be buying a S1 and I wonder if it's worth the investment when it's only half price of a MKVI.

I have that sticky G# key problem too. That black touch is really grabby. That carboard idea is good. I'm going to try to find some other material to do the same thing. I'll let you know what I come up with...

Mine was a new old stock SDA and had no such problem, so it can be made to work fine. Not as easy as a modern sax, but certainly not sticky, just a more clumsy action.

This might sound all silly, but I cut off a piece of milk carton to fit on my G# key and it works great. Gives much smoother action and response.
I've also added some support on the thumbrest because it felt so flat (it was actually something I took out from an 'ol washing machine. some ingeunity huh :p ).

So after few adjustments here and there, this baby plays faster and easier than any other modern horns out there in the market. Now if I only had this thing replaced with a Norton spring..
