I'm getting DA which is super nice condition. It's on the way my home right now. I'm told there are some difficulties to play this horn. Let me know what some difficulties would be, and differences between DA and Modern Sax. I'd like to know what kind sound DA has. Thanx. :-)

I think you'll find the biggest difficulty in owning a great condition DA is fighting off all the jealous Selmer players making offers to buy your horn!

The LH little finger table is a bit clumsy, other than that, it is a modern classic in the same way as a Mk VI is; as long as it is in good condition and well set-up it will play as fast as a modern horn, maybe a bit faster as the keywork is well made and nice and simple - some modern horns are maybe a bit over engineered.

Thanx MBushaw, stevew. I paid $800.00 for mint condition DA( 95% Original laqure, No dent or ding, few scratch, nice pad) Do you think it's good price? I have no idea about its price.

Sounds like a very good buy at that price. A check-over by a good technician would be a good idea to get the best from it.

Congratulations Dooray, the only reason a Buffet would be hard to play is that it is not set up correctly or has leaks. When you make music with it, your ears will be convinced you got a good deal!Let us know when we can see pictures.

I have two DAs, alto and tenor. Great horns. You'll love them if you like a dark tone and fast keywork.

Thanx for replies. What is your setting for Alto DA, mostly alto guy? I'm gonna try Meyer 5M, and conn eagle, Dukkof. I was going to try Selmer S80, but it doesn't have its special character, so I already sold it. Let me have some assistances for setting the MP up. :-)

Dooray, sorry for the delay in responding--been out of town. I'm using a Yani 5 HR on my DA most of the time, but also Brilhart Ebolin 4* and an old Buffet unnumbered piece. I like the Yani's dark character, a nice match for the horn. All of these I use with Hemke 3s and VD Optimum lig.

I was wondering Brilhart Ebolin would work fine. I heard old Brilhart's MPC are pretty good, but.. you know.. new one doesn't have good reputation. That's why I couldn't choose it with confirm. Does "Yani" mean Yanagisawa? I have had experience playing Conn Shooting Star with Yanagasawa MPC, and I thought it was Selmer S80. DO you have experience using otto Link? I'm thinking gonna trade Dukkof to Otto Link.
