I've got from an old man a silverplated Buffet Crampon sax alto (without engraving - the stamp of Buffet Crampon with 'SA 18 -20 Pg du Cerf') with sn 187 in original en new condition.(it stood in his case for several decades on an attic)
Can anyone give me more information about this instrument.
What can it be worth when perfectly overhauled.

Chances are that the horn is either what I call a "Series VIII" or a Dynaction, quite probably a Dynaction (serial numbers around that time aren't exactly known and were changed at least once).
Early 50's vintage would be a good guess. You can check out my website at www.saxpics.com/buffet to see more pics and compare.
Just note:
"S.A." is the French version of "Inc."
"18-20 P(assa)ge Du Gd Cerf" is Buffet's address.
I'd love some pictures, if you can take some.
The Dynaction, which I tend to think your horn is (check the bell-to-body brace), is the forerunner of the Super Dynaction, one of Buffet's most famous horns.
I owned a Dynaction for a couple of years and it's a great horn. Some notes have some inherent intonation problem, but nothing that's too hard to overcome.
In perfect conditon, they still don't fetch that much on eBay because they aren't very well known. $800 US would be a good "top price". I haven't seen altos this old sell for much more.
Take care!
Pete
