Hey, does anyone have any clue whether New Evette's are any good? I understand that they come from Tawain. I also seem to think that Winstons and Moniques and those sort of horns are also produced over there. And I've been warned severly about not buying things like Winstons.

But I remember playing an Evette model from when they were still made in France, and it was certainly intermediate grade. Are they still recommended as intermediate, or have they fallen in respect?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

I tried a Taiwanese Bari by Elkhart (Selmer's cheap brand in the UK) and it was excellent value for money at £1500, played very easily. The Evettes are certainly a very basic cheap student horn, I haven't met anyone who really rates them, they are just about bottom of the heap.

Jupiters seem to be getting better all the time, but the bargain I went for was $2995 for a Yani B901 at Matthews in Holland.
