A friend of mine wants to get back into playing his bari. He hasn't played for a couple of years and the horn he has rarely works and he wants to get a new one. But he only has his LA Sax bari and under $1000 to spend. He just wants to play jazz and was found of a martin bari he played in HS when his horn was in the shop. Anyone have any ideas?

I think the Late True Tone Bari's are great they can be found for less money than many other vintage horns. -let alone newer horns!

'The Martin' baris, #150,000 and up, are usually available for $1000. Figure an overhaul for another $650 minimum unless it's just had one. Just like your friend, I played one in HS and always wanted one of my own. I got it a couple years ago, and have been happy with it since. These are among the best vintage American baris.
