I have a chance to buy one...mint for $1490. Are these good horns and is that a good price?
Thanks

I have seen them go in mint condition on ebay for 1200.00 in the past. I tried one and can only tell you that the only thing they shard with a real Keilwerth is the name on the bell. The ST 90 seemed to be just a typical student model imitating a pro horn in all but sound.

I was told by a couple of different sources that the ST90 is actually made by Jupiter for Keilwerth.
I tried one several months ago and liked the sound OK, but the ergonomics felt only so-so.

I've owned one for four years and am happy with it. The sound is more influenced by the mouthpiece and reed combination anyway. Intonation through the registers is a little worse than a more expensive bari, but not by much. Key action is easy.

The ST series is made in china for keilwerth. It does not share anything with "real" keilwerths other than the name.
The depreciation on this beast will be very steep. You would not likely get you money back easily after only an hour of ownership. I suspect that the reason it is ment has to do with ease of play, tone and intonation.
If it's just price- get a good vintage 12M or even a used Yani B901. Better horns. Better value.
If you love this beast and it sounds and feels good AND you think it's the long term horn for you then go for it.
good luck,
joh
