Any opinions out there on King Zephyr Baris from the late 50s to mid-60's?

What are their strengths and weaknesses

The bari man in my group has one and played it for about 10 years, only resting it because he bought a low A. These baris play great and have a huge vintage sound. This model formed the basic platform for the Super 20 bari, and I don't think there's much, if any, difference in them from a practical aspect.

You get that big vintage bari sound at a price
considerably below equivalent Mulligans and 12M's.
I agree with Bari Martin that there is much similarity in the sonic qualities of the super 20.

My King Z Bari tends to be pretty flat, I'm always pulled out to the max to get in tune, mouthpiece hangs there like a cigarette in James Dean's mouth. Otherwise, I like it pretty well, but have never played any other bari.

I used to play on a beat up former school King Zephyr. The horn, even though in terrible condition, played very well. The only reason I sold it was because it wasn't worth the cost of an overhaul and I found my current Big B.
