Hello,
I have a plain chamber number 6 very vintage Lawton bari piece supposed to be a .105 in like new condition.. Plays very loud and very dark.. The thing is that I am not 100% sure but I think it is solid silver because it weighs so much more than any of the modern Lawtons regardless of material and it is a shorter shank as was his older pieces and if I do not keep it very clean it very quickly turns black with tarnish, plating does not do this and when you ping it with a finger, the same test for seeing if a flute is solid sterling or nickel this piece has the same precise dull ping as a solid sterling flute and lastly believe me or not, I used to be with USA HORN some years ago and this piece was once owned and played by James Carter. Those of you that know and have done business with me or played alongside or in bands and other venues with me know that am an honest guy. I have no documentation nor am I looking for telephone number size money for it. Just a great playing piece with not the amoun of edge I prefer..If somebody wants this piece I would either take an unrefaced 6B or 6*B or a 7B Lawton in any material or sell it outright for $225.00
