Looks like a lot of junk to me. I'd stay clear unless you're looking for a parts horn. There must be something wrong with that Mark VI...

markm,
I've been playing for about 40 years. No longer pro but a pretty good rec/amateur.

I find that bari's and curved sop's are the toughest to buy. Unless you're comfortable with the possibility of repairs and/or you know the seller fairly well, I'd pass. Another classic example is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=854830381. This might be a perfectly good horn but it's definitely not a buescher 400 and likely represents the standard student level bundys of the era.

Buyer beware. Best bet unless, you just can't do, it is save and buy new/reconditioned from a reputable dealer. Too often you get what you pay for and often less than you pay for.

If you're going to buy sight unseen on ebay, esp used/vintage try to talk to the seller. Get the serial number, look up manufacture date and read reviews of horns of the period. Get a feel for the seller's knowledge and assessment of the horn. If the deal sound too good to be tru it probably is.

Good luck,

john

Almost forgot, if you decide to skip ebay and buy mail order I have been very impressed with the knowledge, integrity, and reputation of:
saxgourmet.com, justsaxes.com, and USAhorn.com. All of them are players. Just MHO
