Anyone tried rubber Berg Larson on Conn 12M?
Any suggestions on chamber/facing?

I know someone using a HR 125/3 and a Marca 3 reed, they pull a great sound on a late 12M bari with this set-up.

I play a vintage HR Berg 105/1 on my Chu. I also own a newer HR 105/1 as well. Even though a 105 tip on a bari is a fairly modest set up, I've never had any problems getting plenty of power from this mouthpiece.

George Briscoe really likes these older HR Bergs. I got a 1970s .110/2/sms off ebay that I'm still tinkering with. Might send it off to JVW to even some things out but I still need to see if its got the potential to be something really great.

Anybody have any experience with one of Theo Wanne's custom Bergs?

ManofSteel:
Ask Jon Van Wie about the HR Berg he did up for me to deal with a particularly irritating guitar player (with double Marshall stack). Jon opened it up to about .155 and installed a fearsome baffle. It will peel paint at thirty paces.

Isn't a .155 tip illegal in most states? Have they found the guitarist's body yet, or did it just vaporize?
What horn was the monster mouthpiece pushing?

I play a RIA with a .145" tip that plays easy as pie. I'd like to try Steve's Berg. Maybe I'll get a Berg and send it up to Jon for the same treatment.

Hey Steve,
Do you own anything with less than a .150 tip???
RS, I play a Ria 7 (.115 or so I think?) that I really dig. But man, a .145? I think that thing would suck all the air outta my lungs! But they are great pieces.

manofsteel--the .145" doesn't take as much air as you might think. But it took me a few years to develope my lip to the point where I could handle the larger openings. I believe playing the open pieces is more about embouchure than lung power. Also I use some extra baffle which makes a large tip piece blow a little easier.
