Hey dude -

Your low A Martin is on ebay right now.

Funny thing - it's not a Magna - (at least I don't see the markings for a Magna...)

Now - if the wife will let me - I'd bid on it - but, arrghh!! we've no cash!

go for it!

Let us know what ya think of it!

Alan,
I saw it but the owner wont sell to an international. So be it, his loss. I need a proxy bidder witha US address.

If it's item #850096829 you're referring to, look again....it's a low Bb horn.

If it's a different listing, let me know. I'd love to see some good pics of a low A Martin.

OK found it!

I'm tempted to post it as an ebay funny : it's listed as "MARTIN THE MARTIN BARE SAX"

Yep - thats the one!

Still trying to figure the angle to use on my wife. Any ideas?

....gee honey, I've only got four saxes, a flute, clarinet, oboe....just gotta have another baritone - and it's a Martin - your maiden name is Martin -- so - .... I mean - I know we're broke and all - but maybe if we don't feed the kids or er.. send em to summer school...;~)

Sigh....

Bootman -

Since the thing is in the general vicinity of Steve Goodson - ya think he might be able to help?

I assume you guys are on talking (friendly) terms..

Al,
There is something about the current high bidder which doesn't ring quite true. After I spoke to the owner, the price suddenly shot up $500. He has used my knowledge on the horn to Jack up his prices.
I suggest we should just all leave him to his folly and ignore the horn.

Thanks -

I've been feeling bad - (on several levels..):

1. I ain't got the jack to buy the durn thing (and a Magna Bari is the reason I look at ebay).

2. Seller has no feedback. Also - his email reply was with a different handle from his ebay handle.

So, Thanks to your note, I'll sleep easy and let it go.

(hmmm - actually, is this Bootmans way of getting a rival to drop out of bidding? - veerrry clever!! I seem to recall tell him that he'd have to arm-wrestle me for an ebay Magna... :-))).

Naa - I have found in life that if something is not "right" - a "Beneficent Force" generally brings something else better my way... So I'll trust "Him" for now...

Thanks again Bootman!

das bootman - do you think he's bidding on his own horn?

It's only at $1K right now, this will no doubt go way up before it's over, no?

I'm interested in a bari, but not too interested in ebay. work too hard for my money i guess:)

Al,
I'm not bidding on this Bari, the seller doesn't even sign his name onthe end of his email. Plain courtesies equal confidence in bidding. There is something not quite right about this auction so I am staying away.

I believe ya! - was just pulling yer chain.

Seriously - thanks for the input. It'll be interesting to see how the deal goes down - and the feedback that results...

mark m - no doubt! The last 5 minuets will determine the price. If I were going for it - I'd place the bid very near the end.

ROTFLMAO -

I've been watching the bidding on this thing.

The High Bidder throughout has just dropped out: usawoodwinds(2) - note low feedback. Gave a lame excuse.

Can you say "shill bidder"?

Watched the whole thing go down - fascinating!

Winning bid of $1641 was placed with about 40 seconds left.. beat out another bidder who placed bid at 24 seconds left.

Shoot - wished that it was a legit auction - with better photos - and I had my Tax refund -

More sighs..

Al,
Don't worry about it. It was avery Late martin bari anyway. If it doesn't smell right, then don't bid.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=855391843

Thats the same d*mn one!!..

I'd bookmarked the old auction (to see how the feed back turned out . . .) The guy who won the old auction has put the thing back on - and is USING THE SAME PHOTO'S!!

Let see - the old auction went for $1641. The BuyItNow is $1750.

It wouldn't be so bad if there were some new photos - Then, if the new seller could show some credibility, the profit he'll make is justifed by the risk he took in buying it.

Many thanks to Bootman for his comments - they appear to be Right On.

Still looking for a lovely - beat-up Magna Bari.

wish I could say me!

But strange to turn it around for really no profit, after his shipping and ebay costs...
