Iīm a primarly a tenor player but been thinking about getting me a bari too.I donīt have much money to spend on it,so quality instrument is not an option.I know Jupiter saxes are not the best ones but has anyone got experience/opinion about them? The one I have in sight is Jupiter JBS-593 BL (blacklaquered)

They do not have the big fat sound of a JK Sx90 or the elegance of a Selmer but they play easily and the keywork is comfortable and stable, the finish of the lacquer is far better than on the Keilwerth. Jupiter is a very common make in Germany.
They are on top of my list for value for money horns. I do have a Jupiter 593 GL in stock which playes very well, but if you switch between the Jupiter and the JK you are going to spend the money for the JK even you did not want to get a expensive horn. So be careful.

Check out the Guardala black bari with silver keys from saxofoonwinkel in the Netherlands...very very good deal for almost the same price as a Jupiter and it is no doubt a killer. I own a Guardala tenor that is making my head spin!

I play in a band with a guy that plays a Jupiter bari. In the upper register it is out of tune; however its great down low. Additionally, we played together for three years now and my Selmer bari has never been in the shop during this time; but his Jupiter has been in over six times. Mostly from welds that have broken.

Personaly I never liked the jupiter bari... when I first stated playing I was playing on an old jupiter and quite frankly by the time we got a new sax, the jupiter was help together by elastic brands... not only do they not have a good sound, they are pretty unreliable.. the metal seems to be much more easy to bend..
All in all, I would definately not recommend them.
Tis worth waiting awhile, saving your money and getting something better...

The Yani B901 can be had from Matthews Music for $2995 if you ask nicely, not much more than a Jupiter, and a superb horn.

Found in a Fortune Cookie... "Most expensive horn is cheapest in long run".
