For the longest time, I thought Buesher was no longer in business...probably because I have only seen old Bueschers and never new ones....until today....I was rummaging through a local midle school's instrument room (I had permission to be there) and found a big, new case...and i thought "woah, they baought a new bari!"...the case looked plain and frankly, cheap, so i didn't know what to expect....then i saw the brand name...Beuscher...I was confused because I thought they were no longer in operation, but now that I see they are, I'm wondering if new Bueschers live up to the old Buescher standard....

Selmer USA has dusted off the old trademark (since they owned it) and said, "Hey, we can use this name to market a cheaply made Taiwanese clone and not tarnish the good name of Selmer"

Super20, you're damn right, it IS blasphemy! But I still hope it will serve as a decent back-up Bar Bari. I'm saving my Super80II for the decent jobs and recording sessions..

i dont blame you for wanting a back up bari ,my comment was aimed at selmer usa for slapping the buescher name on some tiwanese import. its shameless to tarnish the reputation of one of the greatest saxophone makers for the sake of passing them off to someone who thinks he is buying quality .

Yeah Dan, I agree..at least I know what I bought and I'm not expecting it to be anything more than a cheap clone. I am however curious to see if it will stand up construction and sound-wise to actual, real-world gig situations. If it really sucks as bad as the WORST of the clones, I WILL be in touch with Selmer personally to find why they ripped me off by selling me crap. I have been a Selmer (Paris) player for many, many years and believe me, I will have some VERY choice words for the big-wigs at "Selmer USA"..

lets hope that yours comes from the factory that makes cannonballs and unisons . these asian brand are at the top of the clone pecking order. how much did it cost you if you dont mind ? finding a inexpencive bari thats used and not beat to hell is all but impossible.is this why you bought new?

Dan, I got it on Ebay. It is 2 yrs. old('99model). The lady bought it for her son who played it "a handful of times" so they say.."just like new" was also in the description. She paid $2400. brand new, reserve was $1800.,when it didn't sell by end of auction (reserve not met) I Emailed her and offered $900. for it,after letting her know certain facts about this horn and insts. in general (50% mark-up etc.) she agreed to $1000.plus 3 day shipping/ins. So, I got the horn for $1117. out the door..It might just be worth that..we'll see, I'm still waiting for it..Cash

OK, The jury is in ..The Horn smokes, intonation is fine , plenty of power, big decent tone, very well-built to Super 80 specs..Feels very nice. No nasty notes to Selmer on this one..Cash
