Never, except for this site.

It states they started making saxes in 1906. Good luck. Do you have one? Tell us about it.

I'm currently playing a Pierret bari. It is a modele 6 and was made in the late 1930's or 40's judging by the key work. It was loaned to be by a local repairman and alto player for use in our community band. He said that it sat around his shop in a box for about 15 years before he put it back together. He made the key rollers out of maple dowel pins. The horn has a very smooth sound almost flute like in the high notes. The biggest complaints I have are in the hand position I have large hands and have to move way out of position to play the palm keys. This is a real bother because of a lack of a front F key. The intonation is also somewhat questionable in the low notes. I don't know much about the history of the Pierret company but there is another posting under hard to find horns section and some information on them there. Also this is a heavy horn compared to a mordern bari. The octave keys are fixed to the body of the horn so the neck must be correctly position in relation to key so the vent will line up. I would be interested in finding out more about these horns the one I'm playing is a very servicable instrument.

Just thought to add that yesterday on ebay a Pierret C-melody sold for about 80 bucks. It was listed as a Pierret alto but the picture showed it to be a c-melody. Almost bid but I'm saving my spare change for a new bari.
