Anyone come across any books about playing a convincing walking bass line on baritone? Obviously there are plenty around written in bass clef - but I'm a lazy sod who would prefer not to have to remember to add the 3 sharps. And I guess there might be techniques suitable for string bass that wouldn't apply to saxes and vice-versa.
Any suggestions welcome.

Any book on playing bass lines will help you learn to construct them. Learn the theory first, then apply it by playing along w/Aebersold CD's.
I found Rufus Reid's books quite useful.
Remember, if in doubt...play the root.

I never really learned any specific way to construct them. I just listened to people who knew what they were doing and tried to imitate. As long as you pay attention to outlining the chords you will probably be fine. I do notice, however, that I tend to use minor sevenths and perfect fourths a lot when walking.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I've just got a copy of 'Building Walking Bass Lines' by Ed Friedland (pub. Hal Leonard).
Looks a pretty good start - uses proper notation rather than tab.
