I think this might be helpful to a lot of people (I couldn't see it anywhere but sorry if it's been done before).
Could anyone who knows of particularly good examples of altissimo playing tell us about them.
Not just the player's name but track and CD information as well.
Thanks.

I think a good example of altissimo, and just about every other trick that can be done on a sax, can be heard in Michael Brecker's solo 'Naima' on his recent album 'Directions in Music, Live at Massey Hall' with Herbie Hancock and Roy Hargrove. You get multiphonics, altissimo glissandi, subtones, the works. Other than that its a pretty boring album, and I suppose this track is self-indulgent, but one thing I come back to is the amazing range of moods, tones and so on he produces out of the one set-up. If you look at it on Amazon you can hear a clip, but IIRC, thios track goes on for 9 minutes or something!

Lenny Pickett...Tower of Power "Live and in Living Color"..."Knock Yourself Out". 1976. You will either throw your horn away, or practice a lot more.

Yes, Lenny Pickett, at T.O.P. album of Tower of Power. Tracks 2 and 4, also The Educated Bump! There.
Take a try at Warren Hill's version of Hey Jude at his Shelter album. It is the track nine, I guess. He gave me a good reason to try Vandoren Jumbo Java A45 mouthpiece.
Michael Brecker's album with his brother, The Return of the Brecker Brothers has good examples of altissimo. One of my favorites is the Spherical one. After the trumpet work of Randy, Michael burns the place!

I FORGOT IT!
If you have heard Foreigner, the rock & roll band, at the 80's they made an album named 4. There is a song called Urgent. Junior Walker plays the extreme altissimo with such a quality. Simply, breathtaking!
If any wonders, that was a Berg Larsen 130/0. WOW!
