Got a'46 The Martin tenor man the G3 pops on this horn better than all my other tenors. This note has been hard to play full and clean on my VI or Conn tenors. I did get a lot more consistant on a CBall tenor I recently got..But, to this old Martin it's just another note..I'm Lovin' it..

I think I have a '46 THe Martin Tenor too. SN 155xxx. Mine has dents and old pads without any resonators. Plays easy and sounds great. Also gets G3 easily. I'd like to get the dents knocked out and a set of pads with resonators, but I'm afraid I might mess up a good thing. What kind of pads are on your sax and what mouthpiece are use using?

Hi Schutch, mine's a 158xxx Siver plate. It's got smaller flat metal resos and new tan kid pads. My #219xxx RMC (completely de-lacquered) Martin Tenor's got large brown Selmer type Reso's and new tan pads. The silver's got a different and deeper voice (and it's also about 2 lbs. heavier)..Knock out those dents, polish it up, get new pads and pick your resos, you will have a great blowin' horn, I'm using DG or Runyon DelrinQ on both with great results.I've tried my Link, Lakeys, a Dukoff and a Strathon. All with good results. The DG and Runyon are just the easiest to play and produce the biggest sound for me(so far)..
